We had such a fabulous time visiting The Fairbanks Museum last Friday. We learned about Franklin Fairbanks, how he started his collection and the museum. We saw some amazing animals and items from all over the world. The Kindergartners were so excited and couldn't wait to check out everything the museum had to offer. Did you know that as a Danville resident you can visit the museum for free?!

As you know, our class won the food drive challenge which means we've earned a special pizza party! We will celebrate our achievement tomorrow by having lunch together in our classroom. Pizza, juice and a special treat will be provided. Please remember your child will still need a snack for our morning snack time as well as any other items you may wish for him or her to have for lunch.
Although the snow has finally melted (insert giant cheer here), our playground is still wet and muddy. Unfortunately we all also have to begrudgingly accept that it is still cold and windy here in Danville. This means your kiddos need to bring a jacket/coat, boots, hats and gloves to school with them each day. In the surprising event that we have a beautiful day we will gladly tell your children they don't need to wear these items for recess. Thanks so much and hopefully soon we can pack all of this winter gear away!
The performance of Jack and the Beanstalk was fabulous! Our students were excellent audience members and we enjoyed a very funny show. Have your Kindergartner practice his or her retelling skills by retelling you the story. This tied in perfectly with our learning about soil and bean plants. Let's just hope we didn't plant any magic beans in our classroom! Before the break we learned about soil. We planted some beans in soil and we even decided to eat some! We used pudding for our clay, graham crackers for our sand and Oreo cookies for top soil. And of course what soil would be complete without worms - gummy ones of course! While I was at school earlier today I checked in on our bean plants and I'm excited to report we have some strong looking bean sprouts growing. We won! Thank you so much for your generous donations. Your thoughtfulness never ceases to amaze me. Just a reminder that tomorrow is the last day to send in items for the food drive. Your donations are greatly appreciated!
Last week the Montshire Museum came to visit us and kick off our study of rocks. We had a wonderful time and learned a lot about four different kinds of rocks. Check out our slideshow below to see some of the things we did.
